So I think the phrase " a work of literary merit" means a work of literature that is primarily used by students and teachers as a reference. I feel like any book that was on the list of books that have appeared on the AP Exam are works of literary merit because they are well developed and used in various high schools or universities. My independent reading book, The Memory Keeper's Daughter, is a work of literary merit because it is a book that could influence a well developed essay on right vs. wrong; which I believe could be used on the AP Exam.

Ok so the number one book I will never recommend is this the last book I read before high school. This book was the worst book I have ever read and it killed my desire for independent reading. The book was about some girl who was lost in the world because her twin sister died after choking on a cheeseburger. First off, I have a twin sister so it was heartbreaking to read something like that, but I kept going. I wanted to see how the main character went on with her life. The story got worse. This girl was simply depressed. Every time she mentioned her dead sister I literally started to cry. I can't even imagine life without my twin. Ew I can't believe I just said that. But anyway, I just had to stop reading the book because the only thing I could think about was how my life would be if my twin sister died. I felt a pit in my stomach. It was a book that I got from my school's library but I didn't care. I immediately threw it in the trash. I never returned it and Lord knows I wasn't going to pay for a book like that. When they asked me about I said the book is where it's supposed to be. Obviously since I didn't return the book I couldn't take another one out, so I stopped my independent reading and right then and there my true love was awakened. The one thing I didn't know about myself. The one reason why in high school I never do my homework at home. SLEEP! By the way I didn't mention the title of the book because I literally don't remember.

George's Marvelous Medicine
Reading is mad work now. When I was a kid I loved to read. I read all the time. My favorite books were the Roald Dahl series. All of his books were so interesting because of his usage of imagery. My favorite book by Roald Dahl is George's marvelous Medicine. I will always love that book because it defined my identity as a reader. I only love to read books that immediately catch my attention. If the book starts off boring, then I'll just put it down. My goals for this blog is to blog about books that I have finished reading because I haven't finished book since like freshmen year. Also if I read something online that I think is funny I am going to post it on my blog. I love to laugh and so should other people when they view my blog.
